  • WHAT IS THE BEST TIME TO BOOK A CATERER FOR AN EVENT?

    Once your date is finalized. This ensures that we have the date available, and with a minimal deposit, the date will be held. We can work through the menu as your event approaches with the final number of guests and menu selections due 15 days before the event.

  • WHAT TYPE OF EVENTS DOES THOMAS’S SPECIALIZE IN?

    We specialize in making your dream event come true. The wedding you always wanted, the most talked about corporate event, or the unforgettable family party; we plan all of our events with the goal of exceeding expectations.

  • HOW MUCH WILL MY EVENT COST?

    Our menus are priced per person and can be specialized to include any of your favorite dishes. We will help you maximize any budget.

  • WHAT SERVICES ARE INCLUDED?

    From a small lunch drop off to seated dinners, we are a full-service caterer. Services included will depend on your event needs and requests. We are also not limited to just the food; we can provide tenting and canopies, lighting, china, chairs, tables, linens, custom cakes, floral design, and bar service.

  • IS THOMAS’S LICENSED AND INSURED?

    Thomas’s is fully licensed and insured with the state of Michigan. The Wayne County Board of Health inspects our kitchens regularly.

  • HOW CAN I BE SURE MY EVENT WILL BE UNIQUE?

    Next to your guests, food is the most important thing. We can customize menus and service around your tastes, themes, and budgets, using only the foods that are fresh and in season.

    In our kitchens, we only use fresh ingredients to prepare some of the best and unique dishes around. Our staff is dedicated to providing fresh, creative cuisine that’s of the highest quality for every occasion we cater.

  • HOW CAN I BE SURE I HAVE MY TRUST IN THE RIGHT COMPANY?

    We are backed with experience in servicing all types of events. Ask any caterer for references; we will gladly supply you with ours.

  • CAN I BE SENT SOME SAMPLE MENUS?

    We have put together menus for our most popular dishes and sides. It is impossible for us to have a menu for everything that we have offered or done in the past. Of course, we can customize any menu to fit your needs, tastes, and budget.

  • DO I NEED A BUDGET BEFORE I CALL A CATERER?

    It is best for our planning team if you have some kind of idea of what you would like to spend on your event. It makes the planning process easier for you and for us. We can provide great menus and creativity for even the smallest of budgets.

  • CAN THOMAS’S PROVIDE REFERENCES?

    Yes, we will be happy to provide you with the names and phone numbers of pre-approved clients who have recently used our services. We also have letters, appreciation notes, and customer feedback surveys that we are more than happy to share.

  • WILL I RECEIVE A WRITTEN PROPOSAL?

    After we have worked together to smooth out all of the details, you will receive a written proposal for all the catering services we discussed. Once approved, that proposal will be generated into a contract for final signature and deposit.

  • WHAT HAPPENS TO ANY LEFTOVER FOOD?

    All the food belongs to you. Just provide your preferred disposable containers and our staff will package everything up and it will be left with you unless otherwise noted.

  • CAN I DONATE ANY LEFTOVER FOODS TO THE NEEDY?

    With strict health restrictions in our state, there are few shelters left that are willing and able to accept previously prepared foods. We will gladly recommend the ones we know of and help with that process.

  • I HAVE A FUNERAL IN 2 DAYS. IS IT TOO LATE TO USE A CATERER?

    Absolutely not. You have enough to handle with all the other arrangements that are needed. Let us handle the food and the details for you. We understand that there is never much notice on these types of events.

  • CAN I PLACE SOME OF MY OWN FOOD ON THE BUFFET TABLE?

    Thomas’s does not welcome foods prepared other than by us to be placed on our presentation tables. We understand that certain events call for a special touch only you can provide, we just ask it be displayed on its own.

  • I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE HOT AND COLD HORS D’OEUVRES AT MY EVENT. HOW MANY SHOULD I ORDER?

    Each event is different in theme, duration, and time of day. We recommend that you allow at least eight to twelve pieces per person, depending on other stations ordered and event nature. For cocktail hours followed by a formal buffet, allow at least four to six pieces per person.

  • HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR SETUP OF MY EVENT?

    Each event is different in nature, size, services and theme. Your event set up time will be based on your event but can be anywhere from one to three hours on average.

  • WHAT DOES MY SERVICE CHARGE COVER?

    Service charges vary depending on menu and services booked. Your service charge will cover all the special touches we provide that are not included in your per person food cost. Items like linens, delivery, staff wages, props if required, and disposables are all covered in your service charge.

  • WHAT IF MORE GUESTS SHOW UP TO MY EVENT THAT I THOUGHT?

    We recommend that you use an RSVP system to ensure this does not happen. We keep our food portions to a strict formula that has proven itself reliable over time.
