Puseh Batuan Temple
Puseh temple is a sacred place of worship of Lord Wisnu, as the guardian deity of the universe. It is considered as one of Kahyangan Tiga shrine members and one of the oldest temples in Bali. This temple was built in 1022 AD with the concept of Tri Kahyangan and was triggered by Mpu Kuturan in 1001 AD. The aim was to unite the Balinese community in worshiping God in its manifestations as Lord Brahma, Lord Wisnu, and Lord Siwa (Tri Murti Tatwa).
The shrine was built during the reign of King Sri Dharmawangsa Wardhana from the Warmadewa dynasty. The buildings were made from red brick decorated with typical Balinese flower carvings found in most temples in Bali. After undergoing several renovations due to improving the temple, it was beautifully carved with more complex ornaments. Its beauty that attracts many visitors to come.
Before entering the temple, you must pass through the Candi Bentar as the in and out main gate of Puseh Temple. This area is also called Nista Mandala or Jaba Sisi means the outermost temple area. While entering the temple area, you will feel high spiritual energy and vibrations because there are stood many antique ancient relics. Then, take a walk to the middle of the courtyard or Madya Mandala in Balinese term, you can see the Bale Agung, Bale Kulkul, and Paduraksa buildings which are believed to be the Gods entrance gate. You do not need to pay an entrance ticket, but preferably giving a donation for Puseh Batuan Temple maintenance.
